Living in and sailing the coast of Maine for forty plus years is the inspiration for my recent series of pointing. Longer sails to the Bahamas and over to the Azores have contributed additional nuances to my work.  The dramatic storms, rhythms of sea and tides, ever-changing skies, and our seasons are the reoccurring themes for my oil paintings. How do you take: that visual and emotional power and translate it to the canvas, and evoke the same intensity you feel when you are out at sea or surveying it during a storm? Conveying that power and movement is challenging.

Many techniques arc used to convey this feeling of being immersed in the scene rather than experiencing it from a distance. Styles range from realistic to a new series of abstracts that convey the dynamic energy of a wave’s actions and reactions.
