David Graeme Baker’s narrative paintings combine contemporary themes with traditional realist painting techniques. The landscape of Maine and depictions of his family and friends within its embrace are favorite catalysts for the paintings and have become touchstones in his work as an artist.
David was born in South Africa, grew up in Pennsylvania, and was trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Prior to attending PAFA he graduated from Wesleyan University as an art major. In 2000 David moved to Downeast Maine where he lives with his wife Sarah, two teens named Morgan and Corin, and a black lab who’d do just about anything for a tummy rub.
