Leopold Seyffert

Leopold Seyffert was an American portrait artist whose work was shown at the Art Institute of Chicago during his lifetime, and whose portraits are now at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery.

Artemis Gallery is showing a collection of charcoal portraits created by Seyffert during the summer of 1916. Seyffert composed the portraits in Seal Harbor, ME the same year the Sieur de Monts National Monument (which would then become Acadia National Park) was inaugurated.

Seyffert passed away in 1956.
